for the people trying to keep it cute / by Lyanne Frost-Madden

I love music. I crave music. I need music.

Learning to live in silence is cathartic and wonderful in its own way. But there’s something about the perfect song hitting at exactly the right part of the day, and the beat or lyrics speaking to a deeper part of you, that puts me in a flow state every time.

So for this first installment, and in an effort to help soothe your Sunday scaries, I knew the selection had to be good. I have two options for you, dear reader.

The first is an album I recently discovered that I cannot stop playing. On days when I just need to put my head down and get through it, this one has done the trick. It’s also a favorite for early Saturday morning errands, right after my first hit of java.  If you saw me screaming BIRDS at the top of my lungs in the Whole Foods parking lot, no you didn’t.

NEVER ENOUGH by Turnstile is one of those albums you just have to experience.

MAGIC MAN

On Repeat

My next choice is for the listener who wants to set a tone without lyrics. It’s for the whimsical corporate drone in all of us. This playlist has been a favorite of mine for several years, and I keep coming back to it. Whether I’m anxious and need something grounding, or just want music that brightens my mood without raising my blood pressure, this always seems to do it. There’s a reason this Spotify playlist has over a million saves.

I truly believe music brings people together, and I’ll always encourage people to keep their hearts and ears open to something new.

Excited to see where this journey takes us.

Xoxo, Gossip Girl — I mean, Lyanne.
